Ill Fares the Land has been featured on Fact Magazine’s “10 releases we missed in 2014”, with some very praiseful words :
“Koenraad Ecker’s Digitalis debut was that rarest of things – a drone / doom record that’s genuinely unpredictable and free of cliche. Brutally physical at times (benefited by some particularly sharp mixing and mastering), it’s nothing for Ill Fares The Land to pull complete 180s on the listener: from wobbling pads, scrapes and processed cello to hydraulic bass patterns in the blink of an eye.”
I’m very proud to announce that I’ll be releasing my second solo effort on Richard Chartier’s LINE imprint, joining the likes of Alva Noto, William Basinski, Mark Fell and Frank Bretschneider. The album, entitled “Sleepwalkers in a cold circus” will be released in february 2015, with artwork by Alison Darby and mastered by Rashad Becker. More info soon…
I have created a bandcamp page where you can buy vinyl & digital versions of Ill Fares the Land from me directly : http://koenraadecker.bandcamp.com
I’m very proud to announce that 2 of the pieces (Decline and One-Eye) on Ill Fares the Land have been used in the most recent creation of renowned Norwegian choreographer Ina Christel Johannesen and Carte Blanche/The Norwegian National Company for Contemporary Dance. I saw the premiere of the piece, entitled “A collection of Short Stories” last weekend in Bergen (NO) and it was very beautiful. A little info about the dance performance can be found here : http://www.carteblanche.no/en/performances/anniversary-performance-a-collection-of-short-stories.html
I’m very happy to tell you that my debut LP was released yesterday (13 february 2014) on Digitalis.
The first copies are available through boomkat.com, initial copies are on transparent red wax.
From february 17th onwards, “Ill Fares the Land” will be also available on digital formats, through numerous outlets (Juno, Experimedia, etc.)
Thanks to Brad & James for making this possible and believing in this project, to Marta for the marvellous artwork, to Rashad for the wonderful mastering and, most of all, to Alison, for everything. In the about section you can read some background info about the LP if you’re into that kind of stuff…
A few days ago the “Night Circus” (by Charlatan aka Brad Rose) remixes album was released on Digitalis Recordings featuring remixes by Decimus, Sculpture, Thug Enhancer, Zwei Kreise, Konntinent & Prostitutes. I also contributed with a rework of Charlatan’s “Cryptology”. Feel free to check it out on Digitalis’ bandcamp page.
My solo record “Ill fares the Land” will be out very soon on Digitalis – stay tuned for more info
“Tuning” Mix for Digitalis
I was asked by the wonderful Brad Rose at Digitalis Records to make a mix for their soundcloud page.
The mix collects different types of music that use non-standard/microtonal/just tuning systems. From La Monte Young to Mika Vainio and lots more… Hope you enjoy it & thanks for listening.
